In the light of all the new descoveries Letheringham Lodge has been upgraded to Grade I

Letheringham Lodge has been given upgraded listing status, to Grade I, by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport on the advice of Historic England.

Grade I buildings are of “exceptional interest”, a grade only awarded to around 2.5% of listed buildings, a total of about 7,400 of the most important buildings in the country.

The upgrade to Letheringham Lodge, of Grade I listed status, shows that well-known historic places can still reveal remarkable new discoveries and that modern scientific techniques can play an important role in developing understanding of our shared past. This rare building is of national significance and represents an important chapter in Suffolk’s medieval history.
