Edward Martin has just sent us some interesting news about our kitchen door.
Opening our doors to magic people
It is that time of the year that we joyously open our mad little pad to the public and invite history societies and Invitation to View visitors to tour the house and grounds.
Yesterday, the Ufford History Society came and despite teasing showers of rain, the tours were a great success. Some interesting history theories were abound which we will put to the next set of historians. Maureen Morgan saved the day by being the best sous-tea-chef in the history of this Lodge!
A huge huge thank you to Cookfood.net who produced the cakes! Everyone was extremely flattering about 'my' carrot cake. They were kind enough to offer a 30% discount as it was a community event. No food other than yours will ever pass my lips.
Today Suffolk Preservation Society is coming and we have a huge debt of gratitude to them for helping us fend off aggressive developers.
Saturday sees the Suffolk Historical Building Society visit us and on Sunday and Monday we have Invitation to View.
Again, a huge thank you to Cookfood.net
The restoration of the lodge
An interesting article has appeaed in "Suffolk View" a magazine produced by the Suffolk Preservation Society. Please consider supporting them! There were absolutely critical in helping us to prevent the surroundings and curtilage of Letheringham Lodge from being destroyed by unsympathetic developments.
Guests love Letheringham Lodge Cottages
We are over the moon at the wonderful guests who have come to stay with us. 50% have rebooked already with one party coming to stay over Christmas which is extremely exciting. Thank you for being such lovely guests.
We had no idea that we would attract such lovely guests and how much fun it would be having people stay in our cottages.
A key attraction is the fact that each cottage comes with a private moated BBQ island and even in April, this proved to be a draw! Wait until the summer!!
If you would like to see what these lovely people wrote, please have a look at our Airbnb listing for their generous and kind reviews.
John Esling and the Hermitage
We now have the masterplan in stone for the hermitage.
Otherfield
We are delighted to announce that we will be hosting Otherfield here at Letheringham Lodge.
Previously known as the Quadrangle Film Festival, this much-loved filmmakers' gathering continues. The strapline says it all 'the only thing you pitch is your tent'.
The website otherfield.uk is launched today and tickets are now available. We are expecting to sell out extremely quickly so please don't delay.
Landscape and Light
We were delighted to host and participate in a highly successful 7-day land art residency designed by UCS from the 24th to the 30th January 2016.
13 emerging and established artists lived on-site for the week which culminated in a Private View on 29th February.
The Private View attracted over a 130 people and the work produced was received extremely well.
We intend the event to be an annual event!
First artist in residence
We were delighted to invite our first artist-in-residence Harrie Fasher to Letheringham Lodge. Harrie Fasher is an Australian artist whose sculptures explore the horse and its relationship to humans on a physical, historical and mythological level.

Harrie was resident here from the 9th November to the 19th December 2015.
She produced this piece of work whilst resident and presented it to us on her departure.
